Emily Nunn- multimedia sculpture and installation artist

Emily Nunn is a visual artist who centers her sculptural and installation practice on exploring challenging themes related to femininity and womanhood. She aims to create thought-provoking environments that force viewers to confront issues surrounding the female experience.

Inspired by her own insights as a young woman, Nunn uses a mixed media approach, incorporating metal, plaster, fabric, clay, found objects, and more. Her fabrication process includes welding, woodworking, plaster casting, sewing, and other hands-on techniques. Through these tactile processes, she gives physical form to intimate concepts.

Nunn takes inspiration from feminist artists like Louise Bourgeois, Tracy Emin, and Sarah Lucas who have courageously examined the complex terrain of being a woman. Currently, her work delves into the duality and contradictions of womanhood. Attempting to unpack controversial issues as well as depict intimate moments, she plans to continue focusing on the untalked about and uncomfortable aspects of women's lives.

Nunn provokes deeper reflection on the female experience by incorporating suppressed narratives as a conceptual basis of the artwork. Through her sculptural environments, she reveals the challenges of navigating womanhood today, inviting viewers to examine their own assumptions and feel the full intensity of her artistic explorations.
